  • Insurgents take over Syria

There are Russian air bases and naval bases in Syria along with a sizable number of Russian military so this could go in more than one direction.

Yeh, that area of the world has been so stable for so long it was inevitable there would be a shake up.
Seems any change over there is never good. The most radical one always seem to win.

Side effect of Russia needing to focus on Ukraine. Have to assume it's going to be a cluster for a very long time.

Inmates running the asylum or meet the new boss, same as the old boss or ruling over the rubble.

I saw some of the videos of folks driving through their bombed out shit. Cheering because the people that bombed out their shit showed up.

I guess the greatest loss from the on going Syrian social and political unrest has been the loss of Syrian Latakia. I'm not a huge lat fan until it gets cooler, much like my tastes turn to a heavier peated Scotch. Now it's cooler, and the only Latakia you can get comes from Cypress.

I was letting it slide but since we're piling on... It's Cyprus and Latakia is a city but also a fire currd tobacco, I believe. Someone with a few fucks left can look it up.

Syria is the traditional grower and exporter of Latakia tobacco. It's cured over coals and in parts a deep smoky flavor to traditional European style tobacco blends

Latakia from Cypress is more smokey. Latakia from Syria is more incense like and less smokey. Best way I can describe it.
