  • How long do deer grow antler?

Picked up a couple in velvet on my duck pond cameras. This one actually looks like he could have potential especially if he isn't done growing.

I think they are at their full size before dove season opens on Sept 1

Good stuff.....then this boy should grow a fair amount more! Might actually have to get Wilson out deer hunting this season.

He has time to get better. We have them at all stages right now at the ranch. They really started putting on lately!

Also depends on area. Here at home they are hard horned and rutting in September. At the lease in San Saba, I’ve seen them still in velvet in late September.

Fawns here are already eating corn.

That would be awesome for him, I am sure. Don't remember how old Wilson , I am sure you have told us before, but I shot my first deer at 10, with a .410 single shot with my Grandpa sitting in stand with me. 8pt out of Marion county. I was so proud of that deer.

He shot a doe 4 or 5 years ago. It would be his first buck. He'll be 15 in October.

He will still add a little tine length but the frame is what it is right there. Just keep in mind that they look much better in velvet than they will end up.

I don't expect him to be a beast, but a 120" 8 point would be solid for this area.

I don't think he will make that.
I' looking a 100" coues that has the same frame and more mass and 106" that looks way bigger.

If he likes him, drill him.

My deer are pretty far along for being this early. This is one I’ve been watching since early June. Hope he sticks around for Wilson.

                            Good looking deer, ft!

Byron, you'd know better than I would. If he wants to hunt him, I have no issue with it, even if he's 100"

Don't worry about score, etc. If he is a trophy or legal in your eyes or kids take him.
