It's a really simple concept. Just do as you are told.

The uniform trumps the plain clothes guy in a situation like that. Simple compliance would have saved the ATF guy a lot of trouble. And I only watched the first minute of it.

I listened to it on the way in to work... it gets better. ATF guy went full George Floyd meltdown. He does not need to be a LEO of any kind.

He really did go full George Floyd. What an idiot.

His ego is what got him in trouble. "I'm a federal agent". Refusing to bow down to the low level local guy.

It's pretty funny considering they were called out to investigate someone impersonating an officer, and the fed thought he was just going to play Jedi mind tricks with them.

Kinda reminds me of this classic:

Back years ago, I was working a prostitution deal. We had our "hooker" on the street and she was making deals with Johns. We would swoop in and arrest them.

We pounced on a guy that was wearing a US Marshall's windbreaker, had a US Marshall's Badge and ID. He had all the other things that would go with being a Federal Agent. His story was that he was in town working a case, and thought our hooker would lead him to the person he needed. The usual way this goes down is out of town police, and agents check in with the locals and give them a heads up. They usually ask for a local to go with them and an intermediary to the local population.

Well this guy talks a pretty good game, until we ask, "Who is your supervising agent in charge." Then he becomes some sort of lone ranger type, very secrety stuff he couldn't tell us about. Bullshit, everybody has a boss and who is yours!!!! Come to find out he was a total forgery. His badge, ID, everything. So he went to jail.

Scarier still was the shovel, cooler, bindings and potting soil in the bed of his truck,

Anytime a federal alphabet cop gets it ,it is good.

A couple of my officers had a run in with a plainclothes DPS Trooper over some odd behavior. They took his gun, which he was wearing without a badge during this "discussion". He was being evasive and acted like he was kind of crazy. They wound up calling the local DPS Lt. who confirmed he worked for DPS out of Austin. The story he gave was he was in town pre scouting for a governor's visit.
Two DPS Captains came to speak to my Chief who reviewed the video with them, and told them they had a problem employee that needed to see a psychiatrist. They wanted to argue and the Chief shut that down and showed them the door.
Most plainclothes cops know that the uniform has "right of way" since who he is is pretty evident. But then a lot of ATF and FBI ain't never been real cops. Communicate like an adult and comply until it's worked out.

It’s beyond me why people resist arrest like that. No way they’re gonna win.
