This is getting as bad as quail hunting got in the 80’s. May as well be lion hunting. No ducks on the ponds or the river. Never seen it like this, and I have seen some terribly slow years. Are any of you guys up north seeing any???

They don’t exist. We need a 30 day season with 3 duck limits.
How many of you have seen the 12M mallards they find in their duck counts. You can go from north to south and there are way more OTMs than there are mallards. Their duck counts are a joke.
DU is only working to improve hunting for a select few in a select area.
The ducks aren’t short stopping, they don’t exist.

We have killed one woodduck since.😏😟

Weather pattern has been weird as F, at least in SETX.
Normally, fronts come from N>S, with a swing from the NW>SE sometimes.
2 things. Before the fronts get here, we get a sucking off the Gulf that brings in moisture. Making our area the wettest in TX. This year, we are the dryest. This also pushes us ducks from KS, OK, and NETX. Been that way as long as I can remember.
This year, the fronts are running W>E if not SW>NE. We're sure not getting ducks from Houston or Austin, and there is no rain to speak of. They peter out before they get a chance to pull any water from the South.
Granted, I agree with fewer ducks, less cold, more staying up north, and all that, but I think in our area, this pattern is contributing to the suckage.
