  • Saying goodbye to an old friend

Heading to Tyler shortly to tell a dear friend goodbye. Randy had a stroke and the end is very near for him. A day or two the docs say. He may not know I’m there but I’m going.
Randy was there for my first banded duck. We shared some incredible hunts for ducks and turkeys. We traveled all over the country for spring turkey hunting. He took me on my first bow fishing trip.
Randy was crippled, broke his neck as a teenager. Walking was hard for him but he fought thru that to do it all. He once said his injury was a blessing as it altered his life and brought so many great people into it. He has a whole lot of friends and I’m proud to say I am one.
We are losing a real good man, a true sportsman.

Good on you Op for making the trip. Sucks to hear, but unfortunately, only one way out of the ordeal for all of us. Prayers to him and his family and friends.

Hate to hear this. Lost my lifelong best friend back in December of 2008. Still think about him most every day.

Randy's sisters were there. One from AZ and one from MN. Nice ladies. They gave me some private time with Randy to say my goodbye. Shared a couple of old hunting stories and a laugh or two. I told him what his friendship means to me and that my sincere prayer was that I would see him on the other side some day. I can't say for sure he knew I was there, but i hope he did.
I got to spend a little time telling them how much Randy means to so many around here. I'm glad I went.

                            Good on you.

2012 I lost my friend and business partner. Less than three months from his diagnosis until his death. I was able to go once a week and sit with him. It was a humbling experience. I was able to tell him that I hoped I was a good a friend to him as he was to me. I miss him and am glad I was able to spend those weeks with him his brother and mom.
