  • Missouri public hunting...

Daughter and son in law relocated to Springfield. Son in law grew up hunting the Lower Laguna, so experienced, but not alot of help with hunting the woods or lakes.

    Anybody with any info?

I plan on going up to do some hunting and visiting with my new granddaughter in Nov. Will have Pro Drive in tow.

You're likely to run over an armadillo between Tulsa and Springfield. Bring your allergy medicine if you have even the slightest allergies. Kinda like Bend. Shit will put you on your ass. All I got for ya.

Lots of local morning draws, lots of people, lots of ducks, lots of work. Reach out to Gman. We have had some slammed hunts, but the pressure is solid if not on private, and then you need the yahoos on public to push them to you.

We have hunted 10 Mile Pond a couple times and it has worked out really well. I did a little scouting on a road trip to South Bend. There were an unbelievable amount of mallards there. Not as many when we went back to hunt em two weeks later, but it was damn good. Like Auto says, its draw hunts, so we showed up on a Tuesday morning and Wednesday. got to hunt both days. Just nigger luck but we shot birds. You will need a boat. There are lots of other places, Ive looked at several, just to far to scout well beforehand usually, plus the birds returned here last year.

They have made across the Missouri River. I’ve seen the dead between Jeff city and Colombia

TMP is here in my neck of the woods. Damn good hunting…. If you can get lucky enough to draw in. There’s a couple of other places within an hour of each other with the same procedures. All can be good. Just such a pain in the ass to draw…even for us locals. I couldn’t imagine taking a chance while on a trip.

I always thought Missouri was pretty restrictive with non residents drawing these WMA hunts.

Non residents can’t put in for a preseason reservation or in season reservations….which the vast majority of us hate. NR’s can show up and draw in the “poor line” for the left over spots.

Yep and the odds of being drawn are significantly better if you show up on weekdays.we showed up Tuesday morning and Wednesday, luckily got picked both days. I think everyone in line got to go on Tuesday.

Roger, GMann and I have a deer lease up there still.

Tell the kids to look into 4 Rivers Conservation area near Rich Hill, Mo
13k acres and a lot of it is open to walk in or boat in hunting.
Some parts of it are drawing only too.

East of there is another one called Schell City
It's currently closed while MDC rebuilds the levees.

Lots of farmers in the area will let folks hunt waterfowl in their fields after they are harvested if ya just knock on their door.
                      Deer hunting, not so much
