  • Marlin DQ’d in tournament in NC over shark bites?

Totally ignorant on these tournaments, but why would a shark bite DQ a team? The judges claim that the fish was too injured and couldn’t fight enough?

I asked the same question. Gaudi said it was to prevent disguising something like an illegal gaff mark or something.

thats what I read. Wouldnt be fair if you you just hauled in a dead fish while another boat had to fight theirs for 8 hours

The way I understand it, and I don’t understand much, it gives the angler an unfair advantage on landing the fish once it’s been injured.

And you agreed to the rules when you signed up. They likely knew it would be DQ'd

Yep... Any weighed fish can't be mutilated, the catch and release are a little bit different because of the proof of catch.

Makes sense. Why’d they bring it in then?

We got disqualified from an IGFA tourney that had 28” max for redfish, had a line burner that passed through and then had a toad of a 27” fish that they DQd because it was missing
