Should/Would/Could the SEC leave NCAA?

I don't follow college sports other than just enough to aggravate folks.

But me, I have not been pleased with the NCAA or major college sports in general since they have turned into for profit organizations.

Is the SEC replacing the NCAA with another governing organization a good thing? Will it just become a "meet the new boss, same as the old boss?"

Maybe I'm short-sighted, but I don't see how that would work. NCAA kinda has a monopoly on college sports. If they left NCAA, could they only play SEC conference games? TV deals? It would be a real big effort to get something else off the ground.
Just kinda spit balling here, not an expert on NCAA.
