  • Finally got the Bergara up and running.

Finally got the scope mounted and a range day. Took it about ten rounds to settle in and it really started tightening up. It seems to like the Eley Contact 42 grain subsonic ammo the best. I'll get a batch of that soon. (Top right target) Finished up with the ten shots in the red dot. Aguila standard velocity that I have a ton of. (The stuff in the gray was something else.) I think this will shoot squirrels. Vortex 2-7 on it.

Thats a dang fine rifle but looks a bit heavy for carrying through the squirrel woods. Do you have a local source for Eley ammo or have to Order it. Went through 100 bazillion rounds of the Eley Tenex back in the 90s, wish I could get my hands on some more. Have an old High Standard bullseye gun that absolutely loves the stuff.

Edited: Holy smokes, just looked the stuff up online. I believe at $.51 cents a round, my gun has already eaten all the Tenex its ever going to

Yea. The tenx stuff is legit. A model 60 would cut holes with that stuff

Remington green tag standard velocity has the best "easier" to find .22 ammo I've for the money. Everything I've ever put it thru shot groups like those

6.5# is too heavy? You better eat some beef and hit the gym.

The little rifle is only slightly heavier thany 10-22 and shoots a hell of a lot better. This one as the carbon fiber barrel that helps a lot

I was surprised how light it was. It looked pretty chunky in the box.

It's not their target gun but a similar styled sporter. It probably could shoot a .22 target match but if I were really wanting to play that game. I would opt for a heavier rifle that would sit on a bench better, and more than a 7X optic.

I just happy it shoots the ammo I have on hand good enough. Supressor coming and a bunch of Eley Contact.

After speaking to Runnin, I ordered one of these. Picked it up this afternoon. She Likes the Eley Contact, Eley subsonic 38 gr as well as the SK Standard Velocity. The gun is a winner. I appreciate all the sage advise. Maybe I can get some skwerrils to Cooperate this weekend. Need to get the grandson on some with his little savage Rascal.

And yeah, I was DEAD WRONG. Rifle is light as a feather and prints as good as any rifle I have ever owned at the 50 yard line.

Local Pharmacy/Gun shop in DeLeon carries good ammo. Much obliged to the folks who responded to the P.M.s

Glad I could be of assistance. Skirls have been tough for me this late season. I have not killed a single one since duck season ended.

The other day I went and sat a den tree. I slipped in there about 2 pm and figured to sit till dark. I know that tree holds five or six squirrels that roam about an acre around it.

I sat until the sun got low and I had a 150 yard walk to the truck.

As soon as I stood two ran down a tree. They hopped onto a limb right in front of me at 15 yards. I was as surprised as they were. They barked at me and jumped into a hole.

That was it and I walked back to the truck
