  • Dove vest or belt?

Gotta buy a new one. I prefer a camo mesh vest, but I am open to suggestions. The academy in Sherman nor the local Wally World have none. Money ain’t an issue, but doesn’t mean common sense goes out the window and I ain’t going to a fashion show. What you turds recommend ?

It’s too hot to add additional layers.

I wanted to hate that something terrible, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. If I was even a semi regular dove hunter, I'd have to buy one.

I sit in a director type chair from Harbor Freight that has a flip up table ( use them in the duck blind & boat too), have a small “dove blind bag” for shells, etc. & a cooler on my left side. Dog on my right. I have one of those dove straps that we got from Otis Leather years ago. I added a snap to mine. It hangs on a fence or a limb by me if there is in around. If nothing around, I snap it to the back of the chair. No vest or belt. If it’s really hot, I have a camo umbrella that I put on the chair. Whole set up works for teal too, just change shells.

Edit: my whole set up, minus the dog, gun & shells, cost less than that metal stand thing.

I use a vest, but I also try to be through with the hunt by 9 a.m. I no longer enjoy dove hunting in the evening until that winter season kicks off. It's just too dadgum hot.

This. I have a vest and even when its warm like it better than a belt

I got the duck camp belt for a gift and I really like it, especially with the added beer holster.

I don't like putting birds in the bag and getting hot and sitting on them and making a mess so I have a small stringer with metal rings and paracord and hang them up on a tree or barbwire, keeps the ants off them.

Belt here with removable game pouch. Mines from two doves outdoors

Use a 30+ yr old Filson game vest, it will likely outlast me. Normally just hang it on a near by tree if it’s hot. Also use a bird strap from Coyote Leather. Don makes good stuff.

5 gallon bucket, throw birds, empty shell boxes, hulls and water bottles in it, keeps the ants off your birds and travels well, and it’s not too hot.
