  • BOSS Shot Shells....damn I hate the news

Due to our growing discontent with foreign trade wars, tariffs, weak supply chains and lack of metal supply, Boss is discontinuing the sales of our once legendary Bismuth-based shotshells.
Unless something monumental develops between the USA and it's Asian trading partners (where 90% of the world's bismuth is mined), Bismuth will no longer be used in our ammunition.

Rest assured, we have tricks up our sleeve and have something even better in the works. Give us another month or so and we will show you exactly what our competition will be doing in the next 2 years.

Ya their trick is now copper shot, which has a density between steal and bismuth. Europe has been shooting copper for years. Seems like most feed back is its more expensive than steal and still performs closer to steel than bismuth.

I still say 12ga steel will kill ducks as dead as dead within 35-40 yards and there is no benefit of a bismuth load. Except for seaducks and other hardy species. With that said bismuth is great out of sub gauges. I don't think the sub gauge shooters are going to happy with copper. But we'll see.

They went to crap a few years ago anyway. No shell at that price point should ever misfire. Still good shells, but not at that price. I'll catch Kent or Remington bismuth on sale at Roger's. My chenier shells can't keep up with demand, so I think he's shutting it down, too. Sucks because i REALLY liked their shells. Never had a misfire. Still have a coupla three cases of boss and maybe 2 cases of chenier, some I'm good for at least another season.

The winchester bismuth 3 in loads have been one of the best patterning bismuth loads I have shot. They do hammer some birds.

I bought some Kent Bis in 20 a couple of years ago.

          They hammer. I was surprised.

Pretty good sale on Kent bis right now at Rogers. I suspect they're all going to go up or stop production, so I may buy some just because. They ain't gonna go bad.

Remington 7.5 lead will kill the shit out of teal and you can hunt dove birds in the evening with them.

I’ve got 3 cases of Boss bismuth and a couple cases of Hevi. As crappy as duck season has been the last few years, I’ll be good for 5-6 years.

Price of bismuth is getting close to the hevi stuff. Not worth it.

Thanks orange man. Boss likes their product way too much. Overpriced, get 50 less shells in a case and I had issues with them. Cheapest steel you can find will kill em dead when they're in the decoys (other than rios)
