  • Dove season?

Seeing more dove at my lease this past two weeks than I've seen in years. Most years it's August before I see many and they disappear before Sept. 01 for the most part.
Any forecasts out there for dove season this year?

On Monday I went do some deer scouting as season opens in September. I stumbled upon a pile of doves in the process. Like a shit ton. From a distance I saw a bird fly into a pine tree. Got out my binos and I counted 22 doves in just dat 1 tree. No telling how many on da ground in da millet. Also, deer everywhere i went. I saw 12 deer in just a couple hours

Got something brewing out here for the opener. Should be a banger hunt.

I've been seeing a goodly number of birds.

            yep

Been seeing a few at the house as well. We planted some dove mix months ago thats chest high now. Corn, milo etc. Didnt burd hunt at all last year and unless something falls in our lap we'll hunt in the backyard for the opener, wait a few days and hunt again. I really need to touch base with the folks that took over the place on the river we used to hunt.

We do an annual opening day and next day hunt every year. About 30 of us. For the last 7 seasons we have hunted just west of Abilene. Everyone gets limits. Even in the downpour last year. Being told it looks very good this year. I keep expecting a shit year but hasn’t happened with this guy yet. Damn fun trip.

Saw gozillions in between Carrizo and Cotulla last Friday.

9 day teal season is going to cost the dove birds dearly.

Already started. Hit one on my way home from work. Pulled out of the grill and band checked when I got home. No luck.

Did not take any pics because it was not an owl and I don't drive a Powerstroke.

I still need to find a place around Palacios to dove & teal hunt. And no, I’m not paying a bunch to be a “club” member. I’ll come back home & hunt for free before doing that. Guess that’s why I haven’t found anything down there. But haven’t looked/tried hard yet either.
