Need to add to the collection. I've become partial to the lews speed spools recently, dont have any of the newer curados but have a boatload of the old greenies. Someone said the shimano SLX is good? Whats the go to now days in the $200 price range? Also, for rods, I'm a do or die guy with falcon, is there another brand to consider?

I haven’t used mine in a hot minute, but I like the SLX DC.

Get you a DC so you can annoy everyone else in the boat with the whine. It lets everyone know you have your training wheels on.

Lew's are light and compact. I have a bunch and they are OK.

I am mainly using Daiwas now. I use the Coastal 80 the most. For freshwater the Tatulas are worth a look, and there are a bunch of different Tatulas. Those or the Zillions.

I have been using the Lew's Coastals and the Coastal 80's.

          Been happy with both.

Glenn turned be on to the daiwa coastal. Don't let the name fool you. They work fine in freshwater, too. Wilson and I both love them.

It was Roger who originally recommended the SLX, if I remember correctly. I’m a fan of them…been throwing them the last couple of years and no major issues. I’m also not the best at taking care of my reels. While I don’t fish as much as Glenn, I’m typically on the water a couple of days a week at least. For $100, I think they’re hard to beat.

As other have mentioned. Nothing wrong with Diana’s, I’m not a huge fan of Lews.

The new lews aren't as good as the old ones. And i love the whine of the dc curado
