  • processors w/in 1 hr of houston

I prefer to do it all myself but on a 2 day turn before I have to leave town for a week and wont have time to deal with whatever we drop in the cooler this weekend. Who do we like locally?

Have used vincheks and belleville both kinda meh and JR's in el campo is closing/closed. I know they have all gotten silly expensive.

never been but have had items from here that a buddy brought on a trip that was good. Vincek's Smokehouse - East Benard

then there is also Arnold Deer Processing - Hempstead

I have taken elk, deer, antelope here and they have been reasonably priced and produce a good product.

Stay away from Killian’s they got me for $950 on a bull elk, no sausage made. I spoke with Chris and he gave me a $30 discount, still couldn't explain why it was so high

        Holy moly

That's as much as i'm paying for full beefs

All of them are more expensive and mostly because they are all busy. I am making appointments for as much as 6 months in advance right now on my custom kills.

I brought several animals to J&A in Spring with zero complaints.

6 months to a year around here on cattle. People just keep the slots full.

Then you take what you can get and the quality between the lockers are not the same. I am down on buying bulk beef. It’s nice to have a freezer full but I prefer Costco and picking exactly what I want.

Doe why not freeze it and process it later? My time has dwindled so I have a guy that does good work. You get your own meat back.

Vincheks is good, I got a pig spot 2 miles from their front door, been there a bunch.

I see ARNOLD does BOUDAIN - can you vouch for it? that may seal the deal right there. I can eat boudain 6 days a week. I see H&S does too.

CR in Danbury does a good job around here. I do all my own as well, but I know a bunch who take their deer to them. Good sausage.

As duck pond said, Arnold processing in Hempstead. Feel free to swing by and grab a couple packs of duck sausage if you want to test it first.

I have a deer at Arnold's now. Dropped on a Monday, ready on Wednesday. Just burger.

That said it's been 7 or 8 years since I've paid for anything to be done and this trip reminds me why

I’ve never paid for processing. Might have to this year, though, given my work/ travel schedule. I’m out of town virtually all deer season except for the weekends, and several of those I travel on Sunday. I can still hunt, just don’t have the evenings during the week to process like i usually do.

Kinda where we ended up. Hospital visits, work, house up keep x3..

I'll still do sausage later in the year
