What El General said. A good all-around color, particularly if polarized. Just make sure they are polycarbonate and not glass for safety. And as much as I hate to admit it, the Aggie is right. I have an old pair of Costas that are amber without the mirror finish that I use for nothing but hunting.

Been there. After a damn football game. I can't see without glasses, so I just rolled home in the dark with the script shades on. I wish I could've heard I Wear My Sunglasses At Night on the radio.Originally posted by Elpatoloco View PostAmber lenses script. I keep regular and tinted with me anytime hunting or fishing.
I fugged up and left the clear glasses at the house about a month ago while fishing. Got to drive home 80 miles in shades while it was dark.
Vision was not impaired as bad as I figured, so I rolled with it.
I also forgot my shades one morning duck hunting last season. Trying to hunt out of a layout blind with bifocals sucks balls.Yankee Bird Flu Goose Guide

All of this. I was hunting in Canada with three other guys a few years ago. Lodge threw a single hunter in with us, ended up in the middle of the line of layout blinds. Right after sunrise we had a group of big Canadas noticeably flare as they were getting close. Looked over and the single hunter had a GoPro with a stainless steel finish on the front on his hat and had stuck his head partially out of his blind. We and the guide had what ended up being a loud discussion with him, and he was insisting that it wouldn’t flare birds. Finally took it off.Originally posted by aTm8 View PostNon mirror lenses. Can’t tell you how many times I have had to give the speech to people to keep their damn heads covered with mirror lenses while duck/goose/crane hunting.
Got back to the lodge and told the owner he wouldn’t be hunting with us anymore.

Hey, sometimes people don’t understand just how much of their success relies on their own input. I merely make suggestions. Sometimes those suggestions are considered very direct/abrasive by some of the millennial/gen z types. but I would prefer someone give me direct criticism. I really don’t see how people that run hunts/fishing trips full time deal with all the people. The same ones that bitch and complain about not being successful are the ones that don’t take direction for shit.Originally posted by El Pollo Loco View Post

Costa dropped Amber about 10 yrs ago. Went with a higher light transmission lens color with more contrast....Copper.
Different manufacturers call them different things. Copper, amber, golden light, etc.
Grey lenses have the lowest contrast. Yellow has the highest. Hence, most true shooting lenses are yellow. Costa call that color Sunrise. Great for making orange clay birds "pop", but sucks for hunting and everyday wear.
So my answer is to get any lens with an amber/copper/brown tint that seems bright enough for low light conditions.
