High School Football

Decided to start my own thread.

Last Friday was bittersweet. It was the boys first football game but it was also my dad's birthday.

We got an easy W. My older boy (left) in the picture started at WR. We are a run first offense. Our QB is probably the best running QB in the state and one of the best players in the state. Our RB (white kid) is going to Iowa as a RB next year so we have a lot of studs. The pass catching opportunities are going to be low for the team. TD blocked well but he did drop the only pass thrown to him.

The kid on the right is my sophomore. He got 4 series at D end. Very first play the tackled down blocked and the center pulled on him. He snapped the kids head back and bounced the RB to the outside for the LB to clean up. That first play showed me he belonged!

Lots of fun Friday nights ahead, we are the second ranked team in our division. Tomorrow is a easy game then next week we have the 3rd ranked team at our place. Here is a picture with my mom!

Well if it's not hijacking, I guess I'll add to the post. Wilson had his first official game last week against Seven Lakes (6A). He had a couple sacks, a tackle for loss, and a qb pressure that forced a pick 6. Here are a couple dad quality videos.....

this old guy is jelly, i already miss those HS days...soak it up!!!!!!

with that being said...hey MAXX, looks like Mason will be wrestling a tourney at Simpson (dez moans) and another one in either cedar rapids or iowa city this year. you might need to buy me some beers...and you can bring your kids to watch a real sport.

my godson is an all american at Coe and I'm coming up to watch him once or twice this year. guess my iowa travel days arent over.

Same as swing, this old guy misses those days too. Thankfully my brothers kids are playing ball and I get to follow them around TN, MS and AR. Keep the posts coming, great stuff.

Got another W tonight. Older son caught three catches. He had another that he caught got 2 feet in then fumble it 4 steps out of the end zone. Should have held on for the TD it was a close judgement call.

Soph son only got a handful of snaps tonight. He later pretty well had a good QB pressure.

We are ranked 2 in our division the 1 and 3 team lost to teams in the division below us. We play the 3 team at home next week. We should be ranked #1 this week.

Rank 1 in 4A this week. We will get tested tomorrow.

D coordinator told my younger son he is pushing to start. He should get a lot of PT tomorrow.

Going to be 76 at kickoff I can’t freaking wait.
