TPWD should have “found” the money before the massive public outcry.

The lease expiring didn’t just sneak up on them.

And if you haven't put 2 and 2 together, the Aplin fella in that article is the owner of buc-ees. Despicable.

Was a unanimous vote from the TPWD commission to steal.

Barrett can see some similarity to the Harris Reservoir deal.

The Fairfield Park situation could almost be made into a Yellowstone-like mini-series (who will be get to play Beth?).

On one side the state has invested millions there to provide public recreation for 80,000 visits a year.

On the other hand you have a corporation that wants to build a private gated community with high end homes and amenities but no access to us "commoners".

Negotiations have been going on for some time. Using imminent domain the state has to pay full market value for the property, per the 5th adminment of the U.S. Constitution, but this will be tied up in lawsuits for some time.

Same thing almost happened right here by the house. Their excuse was that TPWD had supplied the fish for the lake.

Guy is an absolute douche bag. There are other antics he has been involved in to financially hurt the Texas hunting industry but take advantage at the same time being on the board.

the fact that they had the opportunity to purchase the property before there was ever a contract on it and decided to then turn around and steal after they realized the f'd up is all you need to know about any of them.

I sincerly hope that every Government Representative in the past and in the future rots in hell.

I didn't realize that had been done either. I knew it was still closed so I assumed it was still private.

100% against imminent domain. It looked like we were gonna be in for a nightmarish, nasty fight when Gov. Goodhair was wanting to put in that I-35 corridor bullshit. Would've pretty much run right through our family land out near Coupland.

They tried. What really saved them was the state did not have a “park”. It was originally offered to the state for purchase but the went the same route as Fairfield.

Sorry MF'ers. Hope the sorry MF'ers rot in hell. Bet they would feel different if it was their land. Hope somewhere a court stops it.
