  • Drinking/New House

I go in spurts. Might go a week or two without a drink. Then I go for a week drinking everyday, sometimes in excess. I know I turn to it during times of stress. Working in selling the current house and building a new one in OK. Has me turning to the bottle more than normal. I’ll attach the Barndo that we are planning to build. We will flip the master bedroom and master bath, then move the fireplace over to the opposite wall so we can have a double fireplace to utilize in both the living room and master bedroom. Feel free to critique the design and add suggestions.

I don't like that you have to walk thru the closet to pee in the middle of the night.

    Other than that, nice spread

Who says you have to go further than the closet?

Would it be better to walk thru the shitter to get to the closest?

What is the dead space next to sinks in master bath? I cant read it.

I'd put a sink in the mud room. Plumbing is already in the wall shared with the bathroom. Cost next to nothing.

In the house I just built, I have a bonus room above the garage as well. I finished it out and brought it in under A/C. I would also think about putting some exterior doors up there that lead out into the attic. Might have to go to more and an 8/12 pitch though. Been drinkin and my figuring aint exactly spot on.( dont have a measurment for the garage that I can see. Either way, it Make a good storage space for the wife's stuff or whatever.....air handler, etc.

I'd swap the location of that closet in question with the master bedroom. In other words, have the master in the middle with bath on one side and closet on other.

You might have to slide some doors around to get it all to work.

Just FYI, Those plans will not be exactly to scale....as they intentionally make some goofs until you pay for the set or have it drawn by someone who draws plans. Old Ken Dick plans in the books were that way anyhow. I never did buy any plans from him.

                Shower.

Yes, already considered that and will add. No reason not to.

Good stuff! They starting digging footings for our lake house yesterday too. I left most of the details to my wife and mom. My only requirements were 3 runs for dog kennels and a complete pull through garage.

Our kitchen is off our master. The only shitty part of it is I am always up way earlier than my wife for hunting and such. I have to go into ninja mode to not wake her up.

Not sure how much longer your kids will be around but you can stack most modern washers and dryers. I would at minimum put two connections there. We have two sets in our place.

I agree with QB, walk through your bathroom to get to your closet. Are you planning on having a one true double fireplace (shares the same burning space) or will it be two separate fireplaces, just put in back to back? If it is just one and you can see all the way through it, it’d be a hard no. People in the living room will hear everything going on in your bedroom and you’ll hear everything from the living room. Also, you will need tight fitting glass on each side to ensure it drafts eights. If it is two fireboxes, I assume the chimneys will be separate? If using same chimney, then same comment as above about the glass for the draft. Without the glass on each side and closing the glass on the side you’re not using, the double fireplace is useless and will smoke up your house.

If you have a lot of guns, built-in/walk-in safe.....preferably hidden.
