  • Layout blinds...

    Sorry for the duck question.

Looks like with the big lakes low as shit, I'll be hauling layouts in the boat this year. Been over 10 years since I've had to hunt like that.

Don't really wanna spend the big bucks and needs to be light and easy to haul/setup. So what's new on the scene?

Been wondering this myself. The spot I drew, water is way down. The spots I figured Id go are sand bars. I didnt plan on hunting either till it go good and cold so maybe we'll have water by then

      A-frames / close thread,

Learn how to use them and you will never ever need to use a layout again.

I have 2 of em. Use em all the time.

It's 30-50 yards of nothing but flat dirt/mud to the nearest cover over 1/2" tall. I'll have folks lining up to buy tacos from my stand if I go that route. Been there, done that.

          Anyone used these before?

          Looks like a decent price.

I use this style. Not as bulky as a fancy one, but I ain't real damn fancy myself. KISS. And they work. Plus they weigh next to nothing, fold up into a very easy to deal with package and keep you dry.

I like that. Ive hunted out of the avery layouts that cost and arm and a leg and felt too cramped

Never met one that I really liked. The best ones are still bulky to transport and are heavy.

Brush them in really good with old hay. Carry some electric hedge trimmers to rebrush with local grass

Those are great, have 3 that we're using tomorrow.

Just looking for something a bit more substantial for long hunts.

I you brush them correctly it will not matter, you are hunting ducks, not Sandhills.

Have six of these that are going on 15 years, shake out the empty's and beer cans every couple of hunts. I will have to agree with Tmac, they don't get used near as much these days but have their place.

                        Any of those will work
I'm using/not using very much the Rogers goose busters one is waterproof up to six inches I believe ...been so long..
Hunted out of power hunter for years I liked the hood as far as not having to brush so much but the sleeping bag was a hassle.

Just threw away 2 layout boards , me and Adair used, 1/2" plywood, fast and easy to make, light. Then cover with a a ghillie blanket. This works great.

Retired from hunting, lost all my guys that I hunted with, Gave away all my sillosocks, had a bunch to,,,, gave my son and grandson all the duck decoys.

I have two different layout blinds but havent used either in about 5 years, they are a must have for hunting geese in the cornfields in Idaho, the cornfields that are owned by one of my brothers patients got leased to a different farmer and he hasnt been planting it in corn, but when it was it was as good a spot as i have ever hunted
