  • Deep in the Heart

Any of y’all watched it? Just finished it. Some really cool footage and facts. I’m sure most of you will hate the fact Matthew McConaughey narrated it but you can’t deny he loves his state. He’s at least tolerable.

I found the mountain lion stuff the most interesting, I didn’t realize we don’t regulate the harvesting of them here and they’re just considered another varmint.

I could think about half a dozen people that I would want as the face of the state of Texas

          I watched it tonight.

          Pretty good watch.

I am embarrassed to say I did not know that Mountain Lions had no protections in Texas.

I think more of no one really sees them. I mean I know 20 guys pretty well and they know 20 each. Not once have I heard or seen solid evidence of actually seering one.

And these would be a group of people that hunt from tx/la border to big bend and guys from 30 to 70 years old who've hunted thier whole life

Not till we found the one hung in a snare hunting with duck pond a couple years ago have I seek one. And even that one was a days wall from Mexico.

The only other one I known personally was shot in Mexico

Dang. Out of all those people no one has seen a black one?

I seent a panther confirmed once on the coast in Grand Chenier some years ago. But it was regular color.

I've seen 4. 2 in New Mexico and 1 each in Lubbock and Knox counties.

I seen one that was near black in Colorado. Locals told us young males are darker.

                      Have pics somewhere.

Saw 3 on same ranch and one in Idaho. Never texas

I didn't see it but I heard the exact sound as on this video in Montgomery County. It was close and scared the beejesus out of me.

Friend of mine recently got one on his game camera on the other side of the county.

I don't think I'd shoot one if I saw one while hunting.

Heard that one morning stepping out to duck hunt in Crosby County. Decided to wait on better light to head down to the lake, as it sounded like it was about 3 feet from the truck.

When i was in 4/5th grade (for size reference i rememberbeing 5'6" in 6th grade)... so 93 or 94ish we were on a lease in zavalla that bumped up against the wilderness. There was a giant cat that hung around my dads stand. Paw prints were between my palm size and my dads.
