My second. Possibly the greatest lab that has ever lived. Certainly the greatest athlete. Tequila Gold Jake.

Cher the Wonder Dog. My 3rd. Not the best in the field, although she held her own. Certainly the best mannered and a great companion for me through a very difficult time after my wife passed.

unfortunately we are stacking up the dog urns in the last couple of years, had to find a hutch to put them in because seeing them lined up over the fireplace was getting sad and depressing....

And finally there is Ann. My 4th. This pic is from last year. She was 13. Put her down 2 weeks ago. The house is a lot more lonely right now than it was. I am 59, not sure there will be 5th. The supply of love is endless, so my heart can take another. Not sure I have the energy? What if I die before my dog? Maybe I will buy a started dog, maybe a finished, but SOB puppies are so awesome.

My best dog never retrieved a bird in the field. She smelled a lot of em and chased em at home though. She was Trixie Doodles a toy poodle who didn't know her size. She was a once in a lifetime dog.

Patos, I will tell you what I told my hunting partner when he had to put down his second lab a little over five years ago - and what I’m about to write probably applies to most all of you: “when I die, I would be perfectly happy to be reincarnated as your hunting dog, because she got to live pretty much the perfect life between love of hunting and love at home. If you can do it, give another pooch that opportunity. “

My hunting partner’s new lab just turned five…

I've been trying to tell someone here that but didn't know the words. Get another dog bro, you and and dog deserve it!
