  • Transporting 2-stroke outboard

I've got a boat that camp and the motor needs a little work. It is a mid 80s 15h Yamaha. I don't want to bring the entire boat home. Can I just lay the motor in the back of the truck for the 2-hour trip? Should I drain the lower unit if laying it down?

Just lay it down and roll. No need to drain anything. If you have an old tire, lay the power head on it to absorb some the bounce.

This is the ONLY way to haul a 2 stroke. The oils will run out of the pistons if you lay it down. Gotta lay 4 strokes down. Never 2 smokers. Hang it or trailer the boat

Pato never gets it backwards. 2 strokes get they oil on the pistons from the fuel. Hang it like kook says.

You don’t have to hang 2 strokes. If you’re worried about oil running out pull the plugs and squirt some oil in the cylinder. It’s not rocket surgery.
