Do those need to tie back to some type of gateway or will they operate independently? The mini camera looks to be wired.

The Blinks we have are wireless. Small control box plugs in inside of house. Download app and control from yo foam

What is the control box and what is it for? Is it needed. Guessing it has storage drive included?

This is where I got stuck, all indications is you need this, but could be wrong.

It is a very small ( maybe 2"x2") unit that the cameras sync to.

Explain it to my like I am a 5 year if you do not mind.

What exactly does it do?

Is it needed for the cameras to work?

Why would you use it (if it is not needed for the cameras to work)?

What is the downfall for not having the unit?

I guess it's like wireless game cameras. You can put out multiple cameras, but need one that the others "talk to " and you can sync to with your phone. You have to have this or the others won't work.

It syncs with the other cameras so you can set settings, view motion videos, recieve motion notifications set sensitivity, length of videos, etc on your phone thru the Blink app. Without the control unit, you have no control over the cameras, they have nowhere to send their data. You can save videos or delete them

Cloud based but not iCloud, it’s own “cloud” assuming that’s what you meant.

Don’t expect any world changing footage by the way. The range of them is not good enough to see out to the end of the driveway and possibly get a license plate. Not gunna happen.

You can turn off individual cameras if you so desire.

I have mine looking down on front yard/driveway/walkway and have the blink doorbell.
