You can’t accurately age deer by teeth.

What do the squiggles on top of the skill tell about age?

I think you can but not how he is asking. Have to send it in to have a cross section evaluated.

JHerr, teeth will wear different from region to region because of range conditions.

I understand. I was looking for some general info from you dudes that I assumed have aged more than a few. I’m thinking 4.5 on the first pic, 5.5 on the second. They were both mature body-wise if that means anything. Thx.

By tooth wear, they appear they were both mature-ish.

Depends on you definition of mature.

As old as they’ll ever be.

Another thing about wear patterns is a deer can chew on one side more than the other. Can be caused by jaw injury or tooth damage. This will throw the “aging” off also.

Going by what I see on our place and knowing the herd.

The top deer ain't as old as you think and the bottom deer is as old or older

                      Maybe 4 probably 3

                      Easy 5+

Not really, especially in southern states.
