  • Wife/daughter carry weapon

I asked for this info on the old site and well, you know. What do your wives/daughters/girlfriends carry and or recommend and WHY? Getting ready to test drive a few or several with my oldest daughter.

Springfield Hell Cat. Comes in woman's caliber, and is compact yet large enough to shoot accurately. Wife loves hers.

Hell Cat or Shield EZ would be my choice.

The Hellcst or 365 are both great guns but are very small and not super easy to shoot accurately. My BIL bought his wife one. They came over to the house so she could shoot it. At five yards she shot a full magazine ( 12 rounds I think?) and only hit a 18” square target once. Practice is really important especially with these small pistols. It isn’t easy to shoot a small, light, short sight radius gun.

Did she have any experience at all shooting a handgun? Any of the three that Auto listed are great for a carry gun but IMO, not very good for learning how to shoot. I like to introduce shooting a handgun with a 22LR, then move to a full size 9mm, then decide on a carry gun.

My wife carries a glock 43. Probably wont be any change to that since she break it down to clean and shoot it herself

Well the obvious answer is too shoot more, carry a larger framed gun, or don't carry. I shoot my 365 really well, but I shoot my 320 even better, and the X5 Legion at fucking death ray levels.

I couldn’t agree more. She is learning with a Beretta 92FS in .22LR.

My daughter carries a Springfield 911 in .380 and can shoot it pretty well. She killed a pig with it during bow season last year at about 12 yards.

Shield EZ gets my vote. I like my wife’s well enough I will buy me one when I find one locally. I carry a regular Shield 9mm right now.

Have you held a shield plus yet? I had a EZ, sold that sum bitch and got a plus. Like the Plus wayyy better. It’s as skinny as a 43X but still fits a big hand with the extended mag (13 round mag).

No idea. I shot the gun while they were here and while I could hit the target it wasn’t pretty. I’m no shooting master but with my carry gun I can shoot a 2” group at that distance. With the hell cat it was more like 12”. I think they are cool guns I went to the gun store the next day and debated between a hellcat and a 365 and came home with a 365. I am sure with a lot of practice one could shoot better with them. All I am saying is out of all the handguns I have ever shot they are one of the more difficult ones to shoot accurately because they are so damn small. The average woman isn’t going to shoot and practice a lot so it might not be the best combination.

C shoots about 4 times a year, I will take targets (usually shoot steel) and see how she does with her 365, if the range is dry this Friday.
