  • First Duck

Of the year for her! Went out Saturday morning and got buzzed by some woodies but didn't get a shot off.

Skipped her out of school this AM to get out. Was suppose to be windy but it was pretty calm. Right at shooting light 20 teal landed in the decoys. One shot 1 teal and two decoys hit. I missed clean up it was pretty bad.

Decoys can be sacrificed now and again. If y'all had fun, 1 duck is plenty.

Either that sled is getting heavier or I am just getting old. I stopped half way to close a gate and I turned around and she was almost to the truck. She got in the truck and said that is the last time she is pulling that thing.

Good for her. I love seeing kids doing something outside.

I have considered this, but if it's muddy I worry it would render the sled inoperable.

I want to build a skiff or a kayak with some wheels on it for this place. Any south wind makes this place close to impossible to hunt. This is a water way in a field and the way the outlet is position the south side of this place is really deep. You cannot get your decoys out more than 5-10'. I would love to pull in something I can jump in and put decoys out a ways.

I have one of those telescoping decoy retrieval sticks. Not sure how far it extends, but I find that it helps this old fat guy not get stuck in the suck mud of a plowed playa lake so bad. It's not as useful when you're chasing a cripple through that shit, though.

Ya have one of those but that only gives me another 10'. They are still pretty close over there. I kind of hate those things as they are so akward.

The model I had would extend 18'. Avery was the brand I think.
