I seriously doubt the folk in Louisiana would ever let a buck even get close to the maturity of an Iowa deer.

You can feed 30 days prior to the season so my buddy said I should start piling corn in my back yard.

Pour your corn on a big canvas tarp with some grass and shit scattered out on it. Pull it day before season.

100lbs of corn would be gone in a week. I only have two weeks until 1 month before the season.

He’s 500 yards away and he has a cut hay field he feeds in every few nights. I am not sure if corn would pull him over here. I have 5 acres with maybe a half acre of timber.

Private land folks do. Public not so much. Also, not everyone hunts for trophy bucks. Do you hunt geese for wall hanging trophys?

Nope. It's gonna have to a blue phase Ross' or a way lost Brant to make it to the taxidermist at this point.

I totally get it that your a meat hunter. Horns don't eat. If I deer hunted, I'd likely just shoot whatever showed up first and be done with it.

Go search a dude named El Gato on Texas Bowhunter.com. He has some of the most incredible deer I’ve ever seen, and his ranch in LA produces some absolute giants.

I am a meat hunter as much as anyone but I have the luxury of shooting as many does as I want. We basically have unlimited tags and the place I hunt I get them for free after the first two.

I have no reason to shoot a small buck for meat when I can kill piles of does.

Side note I will shoot some spikes. The one place I hunt the back ratio is off and you can put doe tags on spikes. They are some damn good eats!

You get two buck tags one for a bow and one for a gun. If you own land ya get a third.

Doe tags are allotted by County. The counties I hunt in rarely sell out. They are 15 bucks a piece so they are cheap.

I wish I could sell or even just give away my deer tags. I'll never use them. Or trade them for turkey tags I'd never fill, but at least I enjoy chasing.
